Democrats are leaving our troops in a tough spot, so good-hearted Americans are making a difference.
Nancy Pelosi’s’ shutdown is the longest in U.S. history. Instead of funding border security, the Democrats have opted for chaos.
Many federal workers were sent home. They aren’t working or getting paid.
While you may not be upset about thousands of liberals not getting checks for their “work,” you might not like the idea of the Coast Guard getting jilted.
But, as it turns out, one patriotic business and other citizens are doing what they can for our troops.

Service members in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines are currently getting paid. However, the Coast Guard is funded through the Department of Homeland Security, rather than the Department of the Defense, and only the former is defunded during this shutdown.
Thankfully, private citizens and corporations are stepping up to make sure that members of the Coast Guard receive some pay, food, and more.
The largest donation came from United Services Automobile Association (USAA), an insurance and financial services firm for service members and their families. They’ve provided $15 million. That money will go toward giving interest-free loans to Coast Guard members, a vital lifeline at this time.
Liberals go out of their way to find reasons to blame Trump for the shutdown.
But Trump has frequently signaled he’s willing to bring it to a swift end. Democrats continue to drag it out, by refusing to even meet.
Meanwhile, they spent last weekend partying in the tropics.
At least companies, and average Americans, are willing to chip in and help:
In Alameda, California, residents of that Bay Area community donated enough food to feed over 600 Coast Guard personnel and there’s another food donation coming up next weekend. USO Wisconsin, a military support organization, is collecting gift cards to support the Coast Guard members that are breaking ice and doing rescue operations on the freezing Great Lakes.
Democrats promised border security and border enforcement in the past. Today, they seem to care more about outsiders than American workers.
Trump is the only person holding them accountable. The downside is how much the shutdown is hurting hard-working Americans.
At least there are some out there trying to help.
