Another day and another media humiliation this time from the hands of the usually silent Bob Mueller.
The entire media complex and their friends in the Democratic machine went all in on a story from Buzzfeed that claimed Trump told Michael Cohen to lie to Congress.
They called for Trump’s impeachment, said this was the smoking gun, said it was the beginning of the end.
Trump denied it, but that did nothing for the media frenzy. Enter Robert Mueller. His office rarely speaks and they just embarrassed the entire media industry.
From The Hill: Special counsel Robert Mueller’s office issued a rare statement Friday disputing a report from BuzzFeed News that President Trump had told his former lawyer Michael Cohen to lie to Congress.
“BuzzFeed’s description of specific statements to the Special Counsel’s Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen’s Congressional testimony are not accurate,” special counsel spokesman Peter Carr said in a statement to BuzzFeed released on Friday night.
Carr did not immediately respond to The Hill’s request for additional comment.
Mueller’s office rarely comments on stories related to the special counsel’s investigation into potential collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia during the 2016 election.
In the BuzzFeed report published Thursday night, the outlet said that federal investigators have evidence that Trump directed Cohen to lie to Congress about the timing of negotiations over a potential Trump Tower in Moscow.
The story cited “two federal law enforcement officials involved in an investigation of the matter.”
Trump on Friday in the wake of the report accused his former longtime attorney of lying in order to reduce his prison time.
BuzzFeed had released a statement earlier Friday defending the reporters behind the story and saying that it “stands by this story 100%.”
